Smile Bridgestone RE55s

After much pondering on what tyres to fit to my Classic Sti V, finally decided to go for Bridgestone RE55s. I am currently using Yoko AD07 and also considered Bridgestones ne RE-01R but have decided on the RE55s "R" tyre in the new SR2 compound, heard they will be noisy but time for better cornering..........! Fitting them tomorrow aftrenoon, report to follow! I have to say the Yokos have done really well lasting 30Km, I am based in Hong Kong where we seem to have far more choice than the usual Toyos T1Rs...... Fingers crossed it doesnt rain.............

Tyre choice here is crap to say the least especially when you have a rarer tyre size like 225/35/18. No track biased tyre in that size anywhere.

Smile Tire Choice

P1 NUT,

I assume you drive a classic with that profile.....! Part of the reason I am still using 16" inch wheels is that there is a better tire choice, if you do go for 18" the car might look better, it may be fine on the motorway, but really go through the twisties here at least is not as controllable as on 16". In fact many impreza are highly modified over here, hardly anyone changes the wheels on the classic, although with 17" at least you have more choices, although 215/24/17 may rub, 215/40/17 again there are few choices in race compounds although the RE55s is available in this size.

We went on a Sunday morning run this morning, 3 Skylines, 1 Evo, 1 Elsie Exige, and funnily enough a 206cc, the tires were awesome and roadholding was excellent........ Our Sunday drives start at 5:30am with no one around, not sure if UK members would be willing to forefit a Sunday lie in....... It concluded with Breakfast at a local beauty spot where other car fanatics meet at 7am........ We were wondering where else in the world at 7am would you see a pair of Porsche Carrera GT's on the road at the same time burning rubber with a shed load of Ferraris and Lambo, absolutely great morning! Actually joked to one of the guys in his Carrera GT that his car was common as mine was the only impreza there and there were two GT's!!

You lucky sod. Have had 16's, 17's and now 18's on all my imprezas and find the 18's are the best for handling. I use them for trackdays as well as road use and they are far better than the 17's I took off. If I had the money and could be arsed changing them every time for a trackday then I would get a set of 17's again.
