Yokohama AVS Sport
Yokohama AVS Sport.
Anyone used/using them?
Any good?
I have tried searching and can't really find anything to answer my question.
Here is the sales blurb, they sound pretty good and I have been told by one tyre supplier that they are (in his opinion) better than Toyo Proxes T1-S's.

Yokohama AVS Sport
A Unique Y-shape design. The speed at which aquaplaning might occur has been increased compared to conventional products in the same class. Reduced outside tyre noise, for a quieter environment (Original angled groove arrangement, with no straight grooves, cuts noise). Improved steering response and stability (High-rigidity zigzag rib on the centre block). Excellent drainage capability. The main groove of the AVS Sport has an angled pattern that delivers superior drainage for tyres with a low aspect ratio. Conventional tyres have a sub-optimum distribution of grooves. For example, there may be no groove in the centre block area. The AVS Sport is designed in such a way that it has an even distibution of groove. As a result, the AVS Sport achieves maximum drainage effect even though it has less groove area in total.

So few Impreza's run them i think, must be a good reason for that?
I am sure the Majority Rules here, Goodyear or (my favorit)..Toyo's.
Solid sidewalls and good compounds.
Nothing is a good as the fab Bridgestone SO2 PP's!
Graham
Done SO2's / Toyo's / Now on Kumho super sticky tyres.

I also had Yokohama AVS Sport on Vectra GSI.
Excellent grip wet or dry but only lasted 7-8k a set (careful driving). Switched to Goodyear Eagles F1s and lasted twice as long although not quite as good grip.
I've heard the AVS Sport works well on some cars but cr&p on others.
Undecided at the moment whether to keep Impreza on Bridgestones or swap to Goodyears when current set wear out.
