Default Michelin Pilot Sport 2's

Can anyone tell me how hard wearing these tyres are, I am thinking about getting some but planinng on doing one or two track days and don't want to ruin them.

You can save them a bit by putting the pressures up but any new tyre on a track day will wear more than a worn one as the extra depth of tread will allow more block movement. Stunning tyres btw in the dry & the wet. if you do get them make sure that you get the extra load ones. Re actual wear, who knows. Depends on number of miles on track, weather conditions & how hard you drive the car.

Yeh I have read good things about them and know to get the extra load ones.
Might have to just get some slicks for the track instead.
Do you know what size I would need for a classic with 17's. I currently run 215/40/17 but I read somewhere that these are quite a wide fitment.

Benno - see my thread here - I was using PS2's as it was wet, great tyre - especially in the wet.

If you are going for slicks you may be better uprating your pads/discs/ brake lines and fluids etc as everything gets hot pretty quickly.

Recon on 2mm wear minimum if you are going for a full day (about 100 miles) and the weather is dry. If its wet virtually no wear at all!

Have fun,

Mark

Thanks for the info Mark

Got some Brembo's to go on with braided lines and new fluids so brakes are covered.

Have just seen some RE070's for a decent price as well but they are 225/45/17 and not sure if they are going to rub.
