Uprated brake pads in "Easy to wash off brake dust" scandal!!!
#1
I'm one of those people who often leave there car for several weeks at a time between washes (and quite frequently a bit longer).
I usually spend most of the time trying to scrub off the brake dust from the wheels, as it has had plenty of time to bake itself onto the alloys.
A few weeks ago, I fitted the new DS2500 pads.
So far I am impressed:
Work from cold, but perhaps slightly less initial bite than the DS2000s.
Work very well from hot (as anyone who got passenger laps at Cadwell Park will testify!). The wheels haven't been washed since!
Seem to be wearing reasonably well.
However, they still produce plenty of brake dust which covers the wheels after a few weeks, and can squeal a bit when cold as well (reminds me of the Mintex 1155s).
Big bonus was when I came to wash the wheels, as the brake dust washed off very easily indeed, with basically just warm water and a sponge (there was almost no soap bubbles left by the time I got around to washing the wheels!). There were none of the big dots of brake dust in the corners of the alloys I was used to with the DS2000 pads which required extra scrubbing or use of chemicals to shift them.
Perhaps I might wash my car more frequently if it takes less effort to do it, but perhaps not
