Anyone used Yokohamas on a scoob?
#2
I am using 215/45ZR17 AVS Sports on my Legacy. Only done 1500miles but they seem a good all round choice with good dry grip and excellent wet grip. Quite expensive though. I used to use A520's but they weren't very good, not suited to the car and poor in the wet.
What are you thinking of using?

I've just got AVS sports on mine last week and I'm not as happy as I was with SO2s. Straight line traction seems to be better on the Yoko, but they aren't as good on wet corners.
Just wanted a few other opinions as I've only done about 100 miles in them, if that and they may still be settling down. My SO2s took a few 100 miles to do so.
Cheers

Rich,
I got a set of 225x35x18 AVS Sports on mine. I can't really comment on the wet grip 'cos I take it easy in the wet but these tyres are a very soft compound and IMO are the best in the dry.
I think you made a good decision with these tyres. Scoobynetters seem to rate SO2's/SO3's. Alot of products get respect 'cos there the most expensive but it doesn't mean there the best. AVS's were a similar price to SO's when they first came out.
They'll be sweet after 1000 miles.

Rich,
Mine took at least 250miles for the release agent to wear away (all the early miles were in the wet) and then they seemed to improve ten fold, particularly in the wet.
I have a pal with a TT Supra and he swears by SO2's but I agree with Kippax, that there may be a little of "what cost the most must be the best" involved.

I have Yokohama A520's in 205/45x17 size and I'm not that impressed. I seem to be able to slide them very easily and although very controllable I think I should probably have more grip. I can't give a comparison to any others as the car was supplied with these tyres. I will be trying toyos when this set is worn out

Cheers for the replies guys,
I'm glad about the 250 mile bedding in period. They did seems a bit unsure in the wet initially. Everyone seems to go mad for SO2 and they ARE excellent, wet or dry, but very little seems to be said on the old Yokos.
I'll have to see how they go once bedded in.
Thanks
Rich
