New 06 WRX brakes suck any advice
Hi all just picked up my WRX last week and am well pleased with it. I only have 2 issues 1 being the shocking radio (no big deal turn it off and listen to the Prodrive exhaust) and the second one is poor brakes.
They don’t have much stopping power and I don’t like how far the pedal has to travel before any sensible amount of braking occurs for a performance car these brakes have less power than my 1,6 seat Leon which seems crazy to me …..
Any suggestions on what I could do to improve this without spending big money
I was thinking of red stuff pads all round and Stainless Steel Brake Lines and other opinions would be great. Any other recommendations on which pads and lines and where to buy them from would be gratefully received
Thanks

the impreza has very low servo assist on their set-up which is why the pedal has some travel compared to more cooking cars..................
as for pads then personally i wouldn't use redstuffs, a set of Ferodo ds2500's or Pagid rs4.2..1's would be a better bet............

Having bought Goodrich Braided hoses and Pagid RS 4.2.2 Blue's from Alyn - I agree. Zero fade!
However for most people the RS4.2.1 Grey's will be less noisy and almost as resistant to fade. I would also recommend changing the Brake Fluid for Dot 5.1 - but just bleeding them will give you a more solid pedal (my car had air in the system when I collected it) ......

Pagid 421's are VERY good. Had some of Alyn for my 05 WRX, along with hoses and fluid, a few months ago and the difference is well worth the cost.
Very confidence inspiring and I no longer get that ABS pulsing through the pedal when braking hard from high speed.. Excellent initial bite too..!
Only minor criticism is they are a bit dirty and squeal very slightly at very low speed. Doesn't bother me as benefits far out way these minor grumbles.
