Default Brake Upgrade

evenin all
ive had my 51 plate wagon for a fortnight now and love it.
is anybody of the opinion that the brakes are not as good as they should be. When i had a test drive of the car i said to the sales guy that i thought the breaks were poor. he had them bled and fluid replaced and in his and the mechanics opinion they were ok.
would you suggest a set of drilled and vented discs all round.
for now the car is standard.
regards Stan.

Thumbs up

Decent pads will make a big difference, ring Alyn (stockcar) and he'll offer you very good advice and sort you with what you need.

Lot of people run standard discs and uprated pads but if you feel you'd benefit from new disc's then go fro grooved only as drilled can crack if used spiritedly
Braided brakelines and good fluid will also help.

Personally running Pagid RS4.2-1 and Goodridge lines with Motul 5.1 fluid with standard discs and the difference is

I tried the uprated pad route and stainless lines, and didn't find a huge improvement. I was using the Mintex pads (1144 IIRC), they seemed to leave huge deposits and didn't wear very well - even without a huge improvement!

I have now fitted the 335mm upgrade kit from Godspeed which seems to be much better, and lasts well on trackdays without fade (although I am really slow )

I am using this with the EBC Redstuff pads and it seesm to be more effective.

I would repeat richiwongs advice for grooved only disks if you get that far

Neil
