i bought some for my 96 impreza turbo but havnt fitted them yet. found this site after i bought them and have read a few comments about the red stuff pads. by all accounts they work very well on the road but if they are for the track aparently they are not so great and can wear down quickly if hammered on all day. most people recomend the ferrodo pads for the track.

hope this helps.

They won't last more than 6k, they don't work well from cold and feel very wooden.

Very good pads for road use, were on mine when I bought it and have just replaced with the same and new uprated discs.

They are a bit like an on/off switch for the first couple of miles until they warm up, but once warm give very good feel and nice progressive braking.

One warning - dont be tempted to buy the Green Stuff pads instead - EBC dont recommend them for cars over 200bhp ( which makes you wonder why they actually bother selling them for Impreza Turbos ! ).

I had them on my last Impreza. after 6k they were less than half worn. Take very little time to warm up. They won't last as long as OE ones and wear discs quicker but I'd use them again.

Get some Ferodo's DS2500's or Pagid RS42-1's then you'll be guaranteed excellent stopping power

Pagid 421's are fantastic. Fitted a few weeks ago to my 05 WRX with hoses and fluid and they're a vast improvement over cr@ppy oem pads.

AS Performance (Alyn) does a good deal at moment for Padgid pads IMHO..!

Exclamation Ds2500

I'll third that.

1k on Ferodo DS2500 on a 4pot classic. Excellent in all respects. Far better than oem when hot, or from high speed climbdown. Cold operation is equal to oem pads and they appear to generate no more dust.

A win-win in my opinion.

It may be worth considering uprating your discs as well as the pads ? dont know if they arent as good with standard discs, but for me they are great with the uprated EBC discs as well.

Any drivers using Red Stuff on standard discs who can comment ?

If you take your car on track days i can understand all of the MODs that people put on their cars as they are trying to get the most that they can, but if you dont take your car on a track what is the point of shelling loads of money on supposed high performance gear for the every day road??????

it is each to their own i know, but the standard Subaru parts are a long way from being 'cr@ppy' and with the millions of pounds that went into designing these vehcles why do every day people think that they know better than Subaru????

Probably gonna be hanging myself here but i have a completely standard V5 Type'R' and it is a superb car that would be spoiled by modding it!!!!!!

IMHO!

Upgrading your brakes so the car stops better is never a bad idea though.

Personally speaking, in an emergency situation I would much rather stop a foot before I hit something than a foot after I hit it.

Also stops that really annoying thing lots of drivers seem to do where they start braking 100 yards before a corner or junction ;0)

First point is a good one and i agree, tho if you were driving correctly there is no way on earth you would plough into someone wether driving an Impreza or a fiesta.......

On the second point, are you forgetting that when you brake really quickly with your track day pads and discs the car behind you probably cant stop as quick.... Also, does that mean that my Type'R' with standard pads needs to break a hundred yards before a bend or junction??????

Jesus, the first thing I did when I had type R was replace the brakes and lines.

No ABS is great in the winter but no fun when serious anchors are needed.
