Default 04 STI BIG BRAKE QUESTION

The front brakes are now getting quite worn,i was thinking of going to a 355 disc with alloy bells, but retaining the origional brembos with adapter kit to allow for bigger disc. The cars on 18s,does anyone know if someone does such a kit. Thanks JASON

Your best bet as an upgrade route is APs 'strapdrive' replacement disc and bell.

Agree with this, a nice floating setup will improve head dissipation and you get the nice AP discs in the process plus its a good alternative to an AP setup for the money (prob less than 500 quid for 330mm grooved discs inc bells) to the 1500 for a full setup (and considering that subaru sell the brembo discs for 400 quid a pair......)

The only down side with the AP strap drive discs is to allow for the strap drive thingymajigs they have had to make the pads smaller to fit them , smaller pads mean less braking , I dont see this as a better set up than standard , unless you have a big problem with warping discs which I dont think the brembo calipered scoob's have.

I know Godspeed do a 326mm 2 piece disc and bell set up for your model which fit straight on , they are about £300 a pair , see this thread - http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=475999

disagree about the pad area.................the BREMBO caliper has traditionally suffered from heat build up (more specifically when used on trackdays, but got a lot of customers doing that most mornings going to work!!)

AP simply use a scalloped pad to allow for the mounting system................and we generally find that this also allows the caliper to run cooler
