Default My ABS is rubbish

95 import wrx
Whenever i seem to "quite firmly" but not to aggresively brake into bends etc the pedal judders and it appears the abs cuts the breaking. In my eyes its not nearly at the stage of locking up.
Im not getting any abs light or anything any ideas?
Im getting to the stage of wandering if i can by pass the abs system and just run normal braking? If so is there a fuse i can just unplug to do this?

Your discs may have warped. Do experience the problem when braking from certain speeds?

Ive replaced the front disc's etc with uprated items so dont think its that tbh.
Someone said about possibly a faulty wheel speed sensor?

They all do that. The ABS system on the early cars is complete sh1te IMHO and if you've not experienced it before and are not expecting it, it can be quite dangerous.

I wouldnt even attempt to disconnect your ABS, firstly you could invalidate your insurance, which wouldnt be good but the early systems were only 2 channel ABS (front and rear) then they went to 3 channel (both front independent, rear fixed) then 4 channel in 99 (all 4 wheels independent).

Aha!

If you have fitted fast road pads on the front, it can upset the ABS big time (especially if the rear has different compounds)...especially with cold brakes. Or braking for the first time after not using them for 10+mins (because they go cold again after 10mins@40mph).

These symptom is ABS cuts in and the car then refuses or take ages to stop. Can be very severe with certain pad combos.

Either revert back to stock or find a find a front-rear pad combination that works.

A quick check to see if this is the case, is to deactivate the ABS (pull the fuse) And drive at 25-30mph on a empty, flat, stright damp or wet road and do an emergency stop on cold brakes - if the rears have a tendancy to lock up first, then it a pad compound problem*)*assuming all calipers are in good condition and system is bled and your current pads and discs are fully bedded in (500miles).
