Fitted 5mm spacer to the front of my 98 classic, with prodrive supplied speedline turini alloys to accomodate new brakes, gives about 0.5mm of clearance, just enough!!

My gut-reaction answer is "as far as possible without causing damage".
The motive here is that the car is a great drive but lacks the looks that I think it justifies. (even with the pro-rive body kit).
Whats normally the sensible width increase ? Whats the maximum ? Do I ned to do any measurements on my car to make sense of this ?
Thanks - Mark

We would need to know the width and ET number off your wheel.
What size tyres you have on the car
We could probably work it out from there.

ET number is the offset of the wheel
Will need to know it the wheels are 7, 7.5 or 8" wide

My 2 peneth:
If you fit any spacer and keep the stock wheel studs then the length of thread engaged in the wheel nuts will be REDUCED by the width of the spacer.
This is why racecars have extended studs to allow such spacers.
I feel you should consider this before you go as wide as you can using spacers.
I do agree that the Impreza looks 'skinny' on the 205/215 tyre width but the room under the arch and the strut is very tight for anything else.
The tyre walls will flex during cornering which you will need to take account off with your measurements.
When I worked in Automotive a golden rule was a little finger thickness between moving parts.
I'm sure Revolution can sort you out safely.
Extended studs and nuts are available from www.tegsport.com
