Red face Which brakes?!!!

Guys,

I've got an MY00 + PPP with some P1 OZ 17" wheels. I have been told I need a new set of front discs and pads. The garage have quoted £425 fitted which seems bloody expensive for the standard brakes (which are **** in my opinion).

What should I do? I have carried out a search on here and I am totally confused. Should I:

a) get a quote from another garage?
b) upgrade, and if so, what to and will they fit under my wheels?

My mate bought some Brembo brakes for £750 in a group buy and they were superb.

Advice would be much appreciated...

Mark.

Try c) Speak to Alyn at AS Perormance and get some cheaper discs and pads from him. Then follow the numerous accounts on here of how to change them and smile when you've saved yourself a packet!

I got some replacement grooved discs and Pagid 4.2.1's from AS Performance. Even with those pads it still worked out cheaper than the OEM stuff. Much better than standard.

Another posibillity is to change your brakes to the 6-pistons WILWOOD + brake discs of WILWOOD. It is a perfect solution and fit to the 17 wheels without problem. On the other hand the weight of them is half of the others.
I have put them in my car (FORESTER 2.0XT) and I am very satisfied. Of course I use the brake fluid of MOTUL DOT5.1 which is the most recommended for high power cars. Of course It is highly recommended to change the brake line to the stainless steel braided brake lines...
Have a look of these below

What are your requirements? Do you do track days? Are you a heavy braker?
If not, then go for some of these.

Just as good as oe parts and, in my opinion, much better feel and initial bite than the ebc versions.

The only thing with the GGR ebay deal is that the discs are 23mm in width when they should be 24mm.

We can supply a pair of Tarox G88 (40 groove) discs for £199.99

Tarox also do a Brake upgrade, 324mm discs with 6 pot calipres, brackets and lines for £999.99. These will fit under the 17" p1 wheels.
It all depends on your what you use the car for.
