I am in upgrading the brakes on my 97 at the moment, have you got those nasty 2 pot front and single pot rears like mine ? After a lot of chatting with the guys in here I decided the best thing to do with the budget that I had was to fit a set of new age 4 pot front and 2 pot rears, aparently they are a direct swap for the old set? They also fit under standard 17" wheels.
I purchased mine from ebay, the front set

cost me £200
and the rears

cost me £50 and yes they are vented thought I was gonna have to buy new discs for these as they looked in a right state but when I recived them (Today) it is nothing a little wire wool and caliper paint won't sort out! Their is enough meat on the pads and discs to last about 18 months but will prob change them for grooved discs and some good pads in 6 months or so? Couple these up with a set of braided hoses (Approx £60) and I am assured that I will be stunned with my stopping power .

So total cost so far £310 but I am thinking about buying a caliper rebuild kit b4 I fit them just to be sure? Green/Red stuff pads I have seen on ebay around £80 a set (obviously needs 2 sets) discs can be anything between £80-£200 a pair?

You can pick up the front brembo's reasonably cheep but may need to change your wheels?

I hope this is of help to you and I am sure someone will be along soon to either agree or tell you something different LOL but this is pretty much all the info I picked up while I was in the same position as you! Check out my original post http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=454482

P.S keep an eye on these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA...QQcmdZViewItem

P.P.S Good luck

Chris...

Chris

The rears you have wont fit straight on , you will have to get the brackets that are in the group buy at the moment , they will then bolt on

Just seen these on ebay,http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-SUBARU-RACI...QQcmdZViewItem look good at face value for 650 but would need more info....
Can pick up rear 2 pot calipers on ebay for nothing, got mine £41 delivered :0
Luckily for me the seller couldn't spell
The 2 pots and the spacers on the current group buy would give you satisfactory rear set up...

OK m8 thanks for the heads up under what heading is the group buy? Also realised I will need bigger back plates for the bigger discs will I not?

Thanks again.

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=446706 The discs will have to be from a post 2001 wrx to fit with the bracket/spacer on the group buy.
