Bridgestone RE070 tyres - Any good?
Hi All,
I am hoping to collect a set of wheels that came of a WR1 prior to the pro-drive kit (17") and they have Bridgestone semi slick RE070's on them. (New from dealer)
Are these any good? Will I have difficulty getting traction in the winter?
Any opinions greatly appreciated.
Regards

Never driven on them myself, sold mine and kept the wheels! But do a search, supposed to be very good in the dry, but interesting in the wet!
225's are too big for a bugeye too, stick your original 215's on and sell them to someone with a blobeye, should pay for your new wheels!

These are super tyres I think, but not to be let near a road which has a simple covering of snow.
Once run in, and wamed up these tyres are seriously grippy in the dry.
Pretty good in the wet, but not too hot when its slightly dampy or greasy.
They're also very noisey due to the strength of the sidewalls.
I have them on my STI, and I'd probably get another set, but I'm not looking forward to winter with then unfortunately.

Thats whats worrying me... the traction. As we are approaching winter, I cant be dealing with any near misses or back end action from no where!
Also, how would the 225 be too wide for a Bug? i thought bug eyes and blobs all had the same tyre sizes?
Many thanks for your comments...

The side walls are firmer so they tend to tramline a bit more than the original tyres and the ride is a bit harder too but you get used to both of these minor complaints.
Hope this helps,
Derek

Thanks Derek!
Would you by any chance have any pictures of them fitted to yours? Are they the same wheels (7x7.5) that have a more straight spoke than the standard WRX alloys?

As above, excellent when warmed up, no good damp, not much tread for the wet
AND I only get 6k miles to a set - just in time for something better for the winter!

Good wet and dry, crap on damp surfaces, gets you to know the limits of the car (it rains lots here so i get lots of practice in the wet )
As per any wide tyre, they suffer in snow, so no matter which ones you get, you will have the same problem with the profile, hence the reason snow tyres are thin (more pressure at one point = more grip, plus the studs help )

Not a lot more I can say really, although I tend to run them from spring to autumn. Obviously great in the dry, good in the wet (suprisingly good through standing water) but lairy in the damp, when you need to have a reasonable amount of ability and considerable gonads if you want to 'press on'

i must say i don't like them on my spec c ,i know they are supposed to be good in dry conditions which they are ,but in damp they are poor and the tramlining at slow speeds is appalling ,people will probably say i might kill the handling by changing but i use car every day and need a more user friendly tyre, had eagle f1s on p1 they were superb they look favourite at the moment

As others have said, amazing dry weather tyre. For wet and damp weather they leave something to be desired.
Also, RE070s are not meant for snow conditions, even a slight dusting is an issue.
