Default Red Stuff noisy??

Just fitted a new set of Turbo Groove Discs with new Red Stuff Ceramic pads. Been running with them for 2 days and notice a 'hissing' type of noise, like a dry metal on metal noise (hard to explain) when the pads contact the disc. Now is this cos they are new, cos they need to bed in, cos they are ceramic and a hard compound ?? They work very well, its just the noise they make when contact

I have the same hissing noise - I assume it's the air being forced thorugh the grooves as they rotate. Sounds a bit like a steam train? Mine's not too loud, but you can hear it with the window open, especially going past walls or in tunnels.

I had this when I first installed by Red stuffs and grooved discs - seems fine now.

Either they've stopped making the noise or I just don't notice it anymore!

Yes, my red stuffs have been on a couple of weeks with new ebc disks and still do that. I presume once fully bedded in this will stop? Better than squeal I suppose.

I've had this set up for about 10k now and they still make the sound you described.
whats more annoying though is when your driving with the window down as you can hear them even when your not on the brakes, I put it down to the grooved discs .
Would definately still recomend them though !

You might want to check your calipers mate. I had the same and thought it didn't sound right so got my dad to have a look - turned out I had a jammed piston so I only had 3 pot brakes on the drivers side front...

Thanks mate.
I checked them recently when I was changing the wheels, front to rear.
All pistons are working fine.
The noise isn't too bad, as I said before it's just evident when driving with the windows down on a nice day.......maybe I should put the air con belt back on and keep the windows up then I won't hear it
