Default How much better are Toyo T1-R compared to T1-S (Re;midland wheels deal Rota 17's)

Midland wheels have a really good buy on there Rota wheels which were on the group buy recentley. its 205/40/17 T1-S x4 with wheels lol for £495.00. I wanted the newer T1-R but it adds the price up by £20 a corner. I hhave herd that the newer toyos are far superior in the wet than the older T1-s................................Any views on this as I think its a preety good deal. It works out very cheap as the wheels on there own are £395. so that 4 tyres for £200.

R888's increase the price by £40 a corner.

I have currently got T1-R on my 95 Sti for the last 16000 miles.
The rear ones look brand new where the frond ones the have started to wear off a little bit on the sides. On the other hand this might be due to alignment and not the tyres.

Hopefully they will last for at least 25000 miles.Grip is very good in both dry and wet conditions.

Most of my driving is motorway but I do visit Milton Keynes quite often if you know what I mean :-)

Although I cannot provide a full comparison I hope that helps.

The Rota rims are also 7.5 inches wide, so you defo need the 215's!

Normally you want 500-1000 mile on a tyre before it starts working at it's best.

Got to scrub off the release compound they line the mould with. 500 miles should do it. Grip can be a bit unpredictable on a new set until then, especially in the wet!

Well, my new alloys from the group buy came with toyo t1-s tyres. I was a bit hesitant at first, especially after reading everyone's 'so called' experience's of that particular tyre. The T1-s is a fantastic tyre, end of story! I had bridgestone so3's before, now there's a crap tyre! The toyos stick like glue in the dry and inspire loads of confidence in the wet.
I don't know how some people are driving on here to call them 'crap' tyres, but you have got to a bit of a kn*b to go wrong with the t1-s!

I've always used Goodyear F1s (for last 4 years). Last me around 20k miles of enthusiastic driving (no commuting). Grip well. See no reason to try anything else. Around the same price as Toyos too.

Mytyres are offering an additional 5% discount at the mo.

Used T1's and F1's.

To be honest, I cant tell the difference, stuck to the road fine on both.
