Question Brake Discs/Pads - MY00

the time is coming to replace the standard discs as they are getting low. I'd like recc'd's as to what alternatives to get, the dealer can supply and fit the std discs/brakes for £300. I don't use the car for track days or driving/braking stupidly, general town driving with the occasional blast.

Fronts only?

You can a much better setup for £300. I got Godspeed Groved discs, EBC Redstuff Ceramic Pads, Goodridge braided hoses & a load of 5.1 fluid for about £250.

Yes Fronts only, where did you get that setup from? What were the fitting costs on this?

I would recommend sticking with OE spec discs and pads available from motor factors for cheap.

You wont need braided lines, 5.1fluid etc if you are happy with the way OE brakes work. IF you are finding that the brakes are fading then it may well be worthwhile.

I had discs and pads from the above for my Almera GTi (same brakes as the Sunny/Pulsar GTI-R).

The Quinton Hazell discs are great but the pads were hopeless. They would start to fade badly after 3 stops from 60-70. I replaced the pads with Pagid "Fast Road" from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ .

Discs from Godspeed via SN group buy
Redstuff Ceramic pads from Camskill
Braided lines form JW Racing
5.1 Fluid from Demon Tweeks.

My discs & pads were due for replacement anyway, but I looked to see if I get a better setup for the same money elsewhere - fitted them myself. Discs, Pads & Fluid are easy to replace but the hoses are a bit of a pain as the nuts all tended to be corroded. Hoses are normally around £50-60 but they're often on ebay for half that.

Like BOB'5 says - unless you're gonna do trackdays then I wouldn't bother with the hoses or fluid - the discs & pads themselves should give a improvement.
