Do your tyres make a humming noise at high speed?

It's probably a faulty MAF sensor...

Or it could be a wheel bearing. Have you worked out which corner it is and tried jacking it up and spinning the wheel?

Mass Air Flow sensor. Cause of a large number of Scoobies grenading their engines by running lean - if I remember right a model year around MY99 was particularly prone to it. Also a standing joke cause of any problem...

Its probably just your tyres. I'd suggest trying another MY05 STi in similar circumstances. If it does it, too, you've nothing to worry about

Thumbs up

ive been using an 03 plate Sti version 8 for a few days.

this one seems to do the same thing starting from around 8o onwards. i'm a motor mechanic by trade and also a bit of a whizz with these car.

To my understanding, i think you'll find that its because its an sti and its got all the active diffs on it. try setting off from a standstill and see if you get the same kind of noise coming from around the rear diff.

I think you'll find its just the computers in the car dispursing the right amount of drive to each wheel.

Dont worry about it kid !

I get a drone type noise (doesn't sound like wind) at 80mph but then it goes away as speed increases.I then get a high pitched noise(def wind vibrating something) at 100+.
My dealer doesn't know what the 80mph noise is,although he has suggested its tyre noise.

I think they're the same, though obviously the design of the discs will have to be slightly different to accommodate the wider stud pattern. I certainly have no complaints about mine, which are standard apart from having a set of braided hoses.
