Question NANKANG TYRES

Hello Guys,

Whats your opnion's on NANKANG tyres, ??

I'm thinking of maybe putting them on my 18" Compomotive MO's.
I dont mind going sideways round the wet roundabouts.

Let me know your opinion's. good and bad. I'm sure most will be bad tho.
Remember £65 each for BRAND new 225/40 R18's delivered to the door tho !

But I bet you do mind sliding into the other cars with your wheels locked...

Don't get a nice car then ruin it by putting cheap tyres on it!

With tyres you get what you pay for.

If this country wasn't so wet and didn't have as many other cars about I probably wouldn't be so bothered. But IMO I think budget tyres like these should be banned in the UK.

personally i think there spot on in the dry/warm weather, but not so grippy in the wet, just make your car a little twitchy in the twisty's when wet,

If it's snowing, and beleive you/me,if it snows anywhere in the uk,it snows where i live(peak district)edge of,matey,DO NOT let these tyre's near your car in snow, you will regret it!

I've got them on my 18's and I think they're OK. Had no bother with them in the dry or wet. Mine are 215/35/18. The only downside is they give no protection to the outside of your rims as I found out when I kerbed mine. Sick as!!!!!

Default Cheap tyres

...if you can't afford the right rubber then forget thw wheels.
Good tyres on 16" rims are better than junk on 18" rims...there is a moral!

to be totally honest with ya m8 i would only put Eagle F1's on mine and at around £122 all in at a local tyre fitters for 225/40R18 i think they good value he also does Pirelli P Zero Rossi for £99 i belive so by the time u have got ur tyres then paid for valve balance and fitting the Rossi look good value imo

I buy over 6million tyres a year - Trust me, these are real poor quality.
Like your man JohnD says - they're the only thing between you and the road.

Do yourself a favour bruv and pay the extra £20 a corner for a decent brand.

Had some Nankang on the back of my last scooby, had Proxes on the front (was like it when I bought it btw), certainly made for interesting handling, if you call never really knowing for sure how the car was gonna react round every corner interesting Like most have said, pay the extra and get something decent.

Thumbs down

Follow the advise - buy the best tyres you can afford.
You'll be asking about Tesco Value Brake Pads next....

Talking OK OK

OK OK,

You've all convinced me, you get what you pay for, and buy the best i can afford.
so I've decided to alloy upto £80-£90 per corner, as I can't justify spending anymore, when it's just for road use ( I do some rallying, see www.alexallingham.co.uk, so I'm not going to be driving Flat out round the street's.)
I do see your point tho, as it's the only thing between you and the road.

Now, one last decider,
Do I go for Toyo's ( I thought they were budget tyres as well)
or go for Falkens ?

As I can get both for similar money.
Also, it;s a 8x18" rim size, would I be best opting for a 215 35 R18 ?
or anyone else got any opinion's ?

Thanks for all the replys !!

Toyos are reputedly very good tyres. But also consider Eagle F1 GS-D3s. They may cost a little more, but mine lasted half as long again as the OEM Potenzas... and that is borne out in their reputation for grip and longevity.

Cool

Falken's are in the same league as Nankang...

Most Scoobies use Toyo's here...Come on..there only £88

Though ofcourse it is ur choice..and if the budget is low then go for Nankangs or Falkens...or treat ur car to something nice...and im sure the car will treat u good in return when your flying around a bend...

I see cars on the roads with some really nice rims...and then i see the tyre..and its just a big let down..coz that cars only for looks and aint gna do the driver any justice its either he has no money for a decent set or he knows diddly squat about tyres... ...though ofcourse this is just my opinion...

Thanks for all the replys !![/QUOT

For an 8x18 rim you should be looking at 225 as 215's may be a bit stretched on 8" but you may have trouble finding a 30 profile (to keep the rolling radius the same) 225/40-18 are easily available. What model is it? If it's a classic, you could have rubbing problems if the offset isn't right?

Exclamation

They are to go on a Impreza Classic, 98 R (pre crystal shape)

I've heard of people having 40 profile's on the MO 8x18"s and having no problems.
My car isnt lowered or being lowered, so should be fine.

Toyo's it is. and 225/35's.
thanks again guys.

225/40 R18 (92Y) P Zero Nero.

Should get them within your budget...

I wouldn't even put Naangkangs on a wheelbarrow . It always amazes me when I see people with expensive performance cars putting cheapo tyres on them .

Falkens are probably the best of the cheap tyres but I've found the GY Eagle F1's fantastic , especially in the wet . The rib on the sidewall on the GSD3's is great for saving your rims .

amm....i used to have Toyo T1s in a 225/35/18 on my Classic....used to rub the arches when cornering + when people sit in the back... (MY98)

40 profile will knock your speedo reading out...

Sam,

Im opting for 215/35/R18 Toyo T1's

can get them for £86 delivered, which seem's feesable.

They shouldnt rub on arches hopefully. and 35 profile should only put speedo 4% out. (not that i'm bothered)

Was it compomotive MO's you had on your car ? Any photos ?
There seems to be hardly any photos of cars with them on.
