Unhappy Vibration when braking

I have had this problem for quite some time now. Basically after i upgraded my brake kit to the godspeed 335mm brembo set up. Before i go on, the first thing i would like to say is i have had the front disc's checked twice for warping. The first time off the car with a brake lathe and verner thickness measurements at various points around the disc, all o.k. Then i went to another garage who checked the car over and said, yes it is def your discs there warpped. This vibration happens at slow speeds as slow as 30mph, garage concluded must be the discs. Next thing i checked the discs on the car with a dial gauge myself, most runout i picked up was 0.008". Should not be a problem.

Anyway during that time i had buckled one of my alloys, so put it down to that being the cause, although was skeptical. Anyway spent £200 getting my alloys reconditioned (needed done anyway). Was told the left front wheel had quite a bad buckle so was getting more hopeful that this would the end of it.
Got my wheels back today stuck them on and the same thing, slightly better at low speeds but still this vibration through the steering when braking. Now i have had garages check the hub etc and all seems o.k. When braking i also get a pulsing through the pedal which again all swings towards a warpage of some kind??. Really at an end with this problem, think i am going to have to bite the bullet and go to a subaru garage, but will they turn around and say, its's the uprated brakes??.
I have heard of some discs reacting to the pad material and causing high and low spots, but what do i do replace the pads for the sake of it?. Again would this not show up on the verner measurements? Pads supplied were ds2000
What else would cause a vibration through the steering wheel and a pulsing through the brake pedal?. I thought some of you guys might have an idea or had this type of problem before.
Any info would be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

if its warped discs , the steering wheel will shake at all speeds , usually the faster you go the more it does it , why dont you go back to Godspeed for them to look at , you get a 12 month guarantee with the kits

What pads are you using , it could be pad deposits on the discs giving you the feeling that they're warped

Just to be sure that it's not pad deposits, what about removing the discs, and giving them a good rub all over with a medium emery paper?? that would get rid of any pad crap......

Would this not show up on the dial gauge run out though??. The discs are quite new so are not scored. I have cleaned out the grooves and cleaned the disc faces with brake cleaner. The vibration gets worse with speed when braking, and as i said you get a pulsing through the pedal. Is there any other things that this could be?

Trance, i had some similar probs with a StopTech big brake kit on my MY03 WRX.
One of my discs even had 4 thou runout at the hub, and that was then 12 thou at the disc edge, and even having that fixed did not cure it! I ended up having the car taken to a garage that specialises in actually grinding the disc surface whilst it is on the car.
The car gets strapped in and the discs checked whilst there, then they found one of my discs was either 'out' (i never found out what was 'out') and when i got the car back it was fine, and has been since.
I dont know what caused it, as certain hints were made towards it being pad deposits. But i never saw any, and i was next to the car when it was on the ramps the first time. But like i said above, i had a new hub, bearings, etc, etc done and it was still there.
I spoke to the garage that did the work, and he mentioned a particluar make of car (not scoobs btw) that they see regular for this. For some reason the setup of the mounting of the caliper and disc makes it happen.
And also, like you i bet, my brakes were fine for some miles before this started to happen too.

Thanks for your reply Madass. It is a royal pain in the **** as you proably know. Can and does knock your confidence in the car. Sounds like a similar problem with you. Was going to get the disc's skimmed when on the hubs with a brake lathe, but seemingly the machine would not drive all wheels at once (too much drive for the lathe motor). How did that garage do your's Madass??

cheers

gregg
