Default Tyre question

Hello all, my nearside front tyre on my type R needs replacing (due to a puncture) the set of tyres have about 1000 miles on them, my question is because of the 4wd will i need the replace both front or the full set or can i just replace the damaged one?

Any help would be appreciated

Get the tyre repaired unless it's on the sidewall. Ideally you should replace tyres on the same axle, but depends on the tyre tread between front/back. If the tyres still have loads of tread then replacing the two fronts should cause any handling issues.

There's two rules of thought:-

1) It can cause diff wear if the tyres on the same axle are of different diametres. Personally, I can't see this being realistic unless there's a significant difference.

2) If the tyre tread are substantially different between front and rear then it can cause dangerous handling charactaristics e.g. a car prone to heavy understeer or oversteer depending on where the tyres with lesser grip are fitted.

Same common sense should be applied when mixing different makes or compounds on a car.
