In general, the Scoobynet faves tend to be....

Goodyear F1 GSD3 - Best
Toyo Proxes T1S (now replace IIRC by T1R) - Close 2nd
Avon ZZR

My mate has Vredestein Ultrac (& I have Sportrac which aren't quite as good) and he rates them much better than his previous Toyo's, they also are reputed to be one of the most durable in a recent mag test. £320 for 4x 225/35/18's if you know where to go

Careful with the GSD-3's - great tyres but very soft sidewalls. Keep the pressures up if you want to avoid damaging the rims!

T1R and T1S are both current models, by the way. R is the stiffer ('Reinforced') sidewall version.

How well do the Toyos wear.

Had them on my last car (a Calibra) and they did not do well at all.

Ted.

No, just try to keep as close as possible to the original diameter so your speedo isn't too far out and beware of rubbing on arches or suspension if you go for silly sized rubber. The smaller the tyre wall, the harder the ride and the less progressive it will break away under hard cornering.

New shape STI needs 225/40/18 as shown as options on Subaru UK site. Try Camskill too for cheap prices.

I'm putting Michelin Pilot Sport 2 in 225/40/18 on my WRC1 wheels next month, already got them sitting here.

Andy.

Iam thinking of getting a set of GSD-3 on my wagon but if itfeels like they are going to peel off the rims every time i go round a corner due to the soft tyre wall they cant be that good!Tyres at the moment are bridgestone potenza reo11 215 45 17 . if i go for the gsd3 what pressures should i go front and back?I thought over inflation would cause excessive wear to the centre of tyre tread. Do I stick to re011 or try the gsd-3?

I've got the Toyo T1-S on my wagon and there great.

The wear rate is quite high but i don't do many miles.

i've got verdestein ultrac's - cheaper than those mentioned above and have been really impressed with them so far - especially in the wet!

yeah, you'd need 225 tyres on 8" rims. 215's would be stretched too much.

Never had any wear out of TOYO's!!

I expect my tyres to last 25,000miles on the Scoobie and 2 years ....... only Michellins do that with confidence (expensive, but the best always are)

However, this time I am looking at the Pirelli P6000's just because they are £348 a set

I went from P6000 to Toyos and found the Toyos to be far better, particularly in the wet. This was in a T5 Volvo.I just changed to F1 GSD3 on my Scooby and rate them over the P Zeros on there previously.I got the F1s all in for £332 nr York. Bob

Orignal fit Bridgestones lasted 14000 on my 2000 MY, Toyo T1-S lasted I think about 25000, and I found them generally quite good for grip, very progressive in the wet, now switched to GSD-3 Goodyears..not that impressed, seems to slide more in the wet.
