Question MY05 STI Brake noise query

MY05 STI sounds if the pads are worn out and i am driving on the metal.

Is this normal ?

Anyone else experiencing the same noise?

It has done it since i picked it up but it is getting louder.

Take it back to the dealer and get them to check it over

Theres a thread on here where quite a few STI owners, including myself, have commented on how noisy the brakes are, and most were suggesting its to do with the pad compound being used?

I have the same issues with my STI MY03, took it back to the dealer but they stated that there is nothing wrong with it.

I soon found out that there are lots of STI-owners with the same problem across Europe(the internet is a great source). I found a couple of German STI-owners that used the Subaru oem brake repair-kit and that seems to have solved the problem for them at least.

I will try this kit too and post any findings on this forum.

I picked up my 05 Sti last week and yeh ive noticed this too. Brakes work well, but it does sound like metal on metal. Im going to pint it out at the first 1000 mile service and get them to look at them, assuming i still makes the same noise then.

I have sent it back to the main dealer and they have found nothing wrong.

Guess its the way they are.

I am now looking for new drilled disks and pads for it if anyone has any ideas.

Think they are 330mm .

Yep, same here on my MY03 STi. They grind as you come down to a slow pace, also they sometimes squeak when I reverse. Both normal noises.

Only problem is, you will not know when they are down to metal, assuming they do not have sensors on them?
