Beware, although Pilots are perfect in 215/45/17 and better in 225/45/18 they are very soft in 225/45/17 or 235/40/18 (due to higher sidewalls).

Higher sidewalls ?

I thought a 45 series tyre was a 45 series tyre, whatever the width. (Ie 45 being the hight of the sidewall.)

Anyway too late, pickin them up tomorrow.

They dont do the same tread patern as my last ones anymore (Toyo proxy type pattern), which is a bummer, I thought they looked quite pretty, nevermind.

Sorry I mean 225/40/18 not 225/45/18!
45 profile means 45% of the width have a look at www.tirerack.com

Scarey,

Can you do me a favour please and find out how much for the PS2's in 225/40/18 92Y Extra load if you need to quote Extra load. I tried ringing several times today and couldn't get an answer.

Thanks,

Andy.

PS. Which one did you go to? I tried Watford as I have a card.

ah damn, if scoobynet hadn't been down yesterday I'd have seen this post before I got the tyres yesterday!

I went to the one in Reading and tbh they did a very good job and I was in and out in under 45 minutes.

when i next go there I'll try and remember to ask for the quote. 20% voucher lasts until 6th March but you need to buy minimum four tyres

Yoza,
Thanks for the info.
I have just picked up my set of 4 off 225/45 x 17 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's tonight.
Having them fitted some time later.
They told me they have been selling 180 sets of tyres a day.
The Black Cab Taxi boys have been flocking there.

Cheers
MTR
