Thumbs down Rusty Prodrive 330mm Disks

As thread title. I had a Prodrive 330mm brake kit fitted about 13 months ago (less than 3 k miles) now I find the bells are as rusty as ****. Any one else had this problem and I would be interested in prodrives response(Mike Wood)

The original discs with the Alcon kit are one piece, and I for one am not surprised they're rusty if you've only don that milage in that time, if they were used more then the heat helps wards off rust, less use = more rust in my limited experience!!

I've done 20k on mine in 11 months and not a problem. The only rust happens on the faces after I've washed them and that goes after a few pushes of the middle pedal.

What part of the discs is rusting and why is it unacceptable?
If its a weekend car then washing it and tucking it away for a week will rot any iron disc - at least get the car warmed up after washing it.

I used silver hammerite on my Prodrive disk bells and they look as good as new to be honest.Did it before they were fitted to the car nearly 12 months ago as they were second hand (Plus I did the back std hubs too and they look good too even if they are a little over 3 years old,no rust which is the main thing!!)

Good luck

Thanks for info I treated my OE fronts with hammerite. My gripe with this is that a supplier such as prodrive should not supply goods that need such maintenance after such a short while

I've done exactly the same, but with black high temp paint. Look good as new .

As for them needing maintenance, i've not encounted a one piece disc that doesnt rust. I did mine before i fitted them becuase i knew they would start rusting very soon.

I agree if it had not been painted/plated in the first place
