Default Bad Tramlining on MY03 STI PPP

Having run a MY99 on 17" rims (205/45/17 Pirelli / Toyo tyres) for five years, I now drive a MY03 STI PPP on the standard Bridgestone tyres (215/45/17).

The car does not feel anywhere near as compliant as the MY99, particularly if the weather is damp. The car suffers from bad tramlining, and can be quite unnerving.

Apart from the obvious increase in tyre width, I am not sure why this is the case.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Could it be the tyres ? Stiffer tyre walls ? Could it be geometry ?

Any advice would be welcome.

I found my old WRX very different on different brands of tyres. Std Bridgestones were really bad, RE40s were better and Michelin Pilot Sports even better. I have a MY03STI and find the RE40s not too bad, but they do not like white road lines when wet!

The white road lines are probably the thing I notice most. It is just a bit alien as I never had any similar experiences with the old car / tyres.

Thanks for the response.

Don't forget the tyre pressure can make a big difference as well. It might be worth having a play round with them as well.

Depending on your location I would advise a trip to Powerstation for the 4 wheel alignment to be re-done with their settings.

I used to suffer bad with this on my old bugeye sport until I visited these guys.
