Default Sti 03 uk brake noise - what's normal

Hi just bought a Sti 03 uk and the (std) brakes make a slight grinding noise (like you'd expect after its been sitting for a day or 2) but it dosn't really go away with normal driving. Garage said due to the harder pads they all sound like this ?

They sound like my old AP with grooved disc set up from years ago on my Esc Cossie

Cold performace is also poor.

Could they be glazed ?

Thanks for any help

Co.

Yup Brembos & the discs have a slight lip 2mm max and there is no judder just a slight scuffing noise

Haven't had the pads out as the dealer will have another look if we want

I'm trying to find out if this noise is normal

Cars done 35k but very good condition.

Cheers

I think most cars with the Brembo's do this, mine does.

I have a MY03 STi and it does it as well, only at slow speeds and coming to a halt.

Also, if I go into reverse they sometimes squeek.

Regarding the squealing noise in reverse, what is that?

Yep, my 03STI's brakes also grind when cold and sometimes squeal when reversing and braking. Seem to work fine once warm though. I guess it is to do wiith the brake compound.

My battery may constantly go flat and my rear suspension may well be knackered but my 03 STi brakes certainly don't make any grinding noises at all

My MY03 STi JDM does this.

I was convinced the pads needed changing (15k miles) and upon removing the front pads I found half the meat on the pad was still left! So I put em back on.

Now 1/2 worn braking does not seem as keen as when new though.

Damian.
