Default Some tyre advice please!

Hi all,

I know the question of 'which tyre should I buy?' is pretty much like asking how long is a piece of string, but could people please tell me their experiences of the following tyres:

Toyo TR-1
P-Zero Nero

It's a toss up between them. Just wondering what others think of them. I know that everyone will have different views, but it's all good! Basically if you ahd to buy some which would you choose (or in fact are the F1s a better choice than either of these)

Cheers

Dave.

Only had personal experience of Goodyear F1's - stunning wet weather performance, which I value more than dry performance. Try doing a search on this site on the subject of tyres, it's been done to death - Most people prefer the F1's over the Toyo T1-S, some have said that Pirellis can be treacherous in the wet 'cause they're too hard. Toyo have the new T1-R out now which will gradually replace the T1-S. They're so new that there aren't many independent reviews about them, but the few that have commented on them here, have said that they're much better in the wet than the T1-S. I've heard that the T1-R is cheaper than the F1, but don't know how much by.

I really rated my T1-S in the dry as they were sticky but quite progressive so broke away with plenty of warning. They were pretty good in the wet but felt a bit sketchy on standing water. I've now got T1-R and they are noticeably better than T1-S in the wet and seem similar in the dry. I also found them cheaper than F1's so that decided it for me.

How much cheaper than the F1's were the T1-R's, as I need a set for my new wheels come springtime?

Michelin Pilot Sports are, I think, the best for all round grip. They'll be my next tyres now my Toyos are nearly shot, although tempted to try the new T1-R, and Goodyear F1 is a very good choice. These Michelins are expensive, though, and might not last long...

Richard.

PS Not to be confused with the Pilot Sport CUP, which is a track tyre.

Don't get the Pirelli's I've not heard good reviews about them at all and never liked my PZeros on the P1, they're ok in the dry, but not great in the wet.

For wet driving, the Goodyears are unbeatable IMO - but the Toyo T1-S on my SpecC held the road a little more in the dry and went more progressively when they gave in the end.

I've had a look at Yokohama's Parada, the ZZ3's & R888's - but the ZZ3's have mixed reviews, the R888's are apparently lethal in the wet and the Parada's have a possible lifespan of about 5000 miles.

So I'm probably going Toyo T1-R's for the next choice, see what they're like

I've got ZZ3's on 16" and now that they've done 1000 miles I have to say they are very good. Especially on damp roads - relative to the Pzeros I had before. I haven't tested dry grip at the limit yet.

Maybe its me but the tread pattern is not dissimilar to the old S02's

Ollie, the Avon ZZ3 was the best tyre i used on my MY01, i tried Toyo's but found them dangerous in the wet,Falken FK451's where very good all round but the Avon's where great no matter what the conditions.

I have just fitted them to my new SAAB Aero and they have improved the wet weather handling no end.

Got warned off zz3 due to lots of uneven wear issues. Toyo can be picked up for about £80 whilst F1 tend to be about a £100.
