Default Brake advice

Hi guys, i have recently bought a 95Wx Import.
The main thing concerning me is the brakes, they really dont feel upto the job. I sold my MR2 Turbo to get the scooby and the brakes were so much better, even driving my girlfriends micra which seems to have better than my scoob!
Are they known for havin **** brakes? What spec will they be as std?
Any tips greatfully received
thanks

Yes they are ****e as standard. Cheapest upgrade is to get hold of some second hand 4 pot calipers & discs off of an sti or a 99-00 uk turbo,

I changed the discs on mine when I had a classic and found an noticeable improvement over standard on the 2-pot callipers, these days I just save for AP's and change my brakes when I change car - can't beat them for fade resistance and out right stopping ability.

Be careful if you go for the big Brembo's or the AP 6-pots as they'll not go under standard wheels (you'll need 17" or possibly 18" wheels as well and that's starts getting expensive).
