Question Brake balance with Godspeed 335 front kit.

I am considering the above kit for my MY00 and just wondered what people think of the brake balance having put just the front kit on ? Does it tend to dive more with the increased front braking. I currently have standard sized discs with DS2500 pads all round - I did notice before I upgraded the rear pads that with DS2500 on the front alone the brake balance wasnt too good and dont want to be left with the same situation if I go for the 335 front kit.

Yes it will upset the balance. You should be OK with the same pads as the fronts.

It will put more stress on your suspension too. Are you running stock suspension or have you upgraded that in any way?

Still have the OEM springs / shocks. Do you have the Godspeed kit ? If so - what do you think overall.... Have read quite a few posts by people who are very happy with it.

I am looking for some new discs that will handle high temperature without cracking and without splashing out too much money ! [ Bit also dont want to upset the balance too much either ! ]

Yes, I have Ian's kit on my RB5. Only issue I have is vibration. A few people have reported this and I'm convinced it's just pad deposits caused by the DS2500 pads.

If the EBC Red ceramics are available, then I'll try swapping over to them.

In general the performance is fantastic. Never do track days, but B road performance is excellent and the kit has never faded. If the weather stays nice (not bl00dy likely here in Scotland), I'll try to remove the brakes and see if the vibration is pad build up or something worse.

Certainly no obvious signs or cracking and I've given the discs serious abuse. They're about 18 mths old now so last pretty well.

Hi

I have the 308mm Brembo kit. It works very well but I do find that the rear feels a bit light under heavy braking. Does Ian do a larger rear disc kit( keeping the original caliper and using a different bracket assy) to correct this. I havent been able to get hold of him

I have had my 335 kit on my my00 for ages, never had vibration at-all, I use cheapo motor factor pads, and only use decent ones for the track, just use the same pads on the rear, whatever you choose, that way the car will brake 'flatter' if you get my drift.

Pasi,

I'm just about to buy this kit from Ian to get the brake balance right.

Do you have any pics of yours and did you by any chance have the bells anodised?

I'm running 1166 Mintex in my 335 kit- which is used roughly 50:50 fast road:track.

No real brake balance issues, and no vibrations from deposits since I changed from DS2500. I do use them hard though which will no doubt reduce the deposit issue.

You should be fine matey

Thought I'd revive this thread to try and get some more opinions from some new 335 kit owners !!
Have people found a need to upgrade the rears to keep the brake balance ? Would like the front kit - but cant really stretch to a rear conversion too !

The same pads in the back as you're using in the front is the best step to take, thats what i'm using..... i have no need/intention to do more with the rears than that! And i've had mine for about 2 yrs....

Do away with the brake distribution block, simply by using pipe connectors and this will increase the rear braking and transform the braking performance. When I first did this I expected possible problems with locking the rear but several different cars on and it has never been a problem.
Probably my best cheapest mod. Less than a fiver and one hour.
