Default Anyone tried the new Toyo R888's?

What are your thoughts compared to the new T1's? Do you think they would serve as a good winter tyre, for general use, or is it best to go for the T1's?

ta,
Matt

I thought the 888's were trackday tyres? Don't you mean the T1-R's?

Yeah I know they are cut slicks which are e-marked but they are so soft they wont last 5 minutes on the road.

If they are anything like the Dunlop DJ-01 cut slicks they will last surprisingly well on the road. Giving them a bit of abuse now and again will still see at least a good years driving (average miles per year).

Not so ggod when it's cold and damp tho

Tony.

hmmmmmmmmm 'R' rated cut slicks on the road in the wet, not a good idea fella's and certainly not to be recommended for sure.

Even BMW CSL owners have to sign a disclaimer before they take there car out of the showroom if they have ticked the 'r' rated box.

The R888s perform exceptionally well in both the dry, and, surprisingly (and IMHO) when VERY wet.

On damp surfaces (Oulton is the best test for damp as its rarely dry) I found them bloody lethal- much worse than RE070s (which aren't too hot in the damp either, but are excellent in the dry and wet, and are also phenominally resistant to aquaplaning!!!)
