Default Info needed ASAP.

Hi all, I need some info rapido.......

I'm having new discs and pads fitted tomorrow along with a set of 2 pot calipres that I sourced through S/net....no probs there.

However, I've noticed tonight that the calipres on my 96 uk turbowagon are curved around the hub ( there's a bar sort of underneath the front of calipre as you look at it on the wheel ) BUT, these other calipres are not curved but flat/square.

Will I have a problem fitting them to my car?

I am waiting for a reply from seller to confirm they were off a similar year car as I was advised.

Thanx in advance.

Skoosh.

Many thanx.

not sure why you are changing 2pots for 2pots.................however if they have come off another turbo (any year) then yes they will fit with your O.E. size discs.....................a word of warning!! if you have new pads for a pre '97 car and your new calipers are the later style the pads won't fit..........

Alyn, thanx for reply, the pads i've bought state on box, 8/96 - 8/98 and I've got them in the calipres.

Only thing is that once they are located, I cant get the disc between, is there a tool for releasing the pads further apart and moving the piston back?

Someone suggested that I may have bought 4-pot calipres although I think it highly unlikely, can you describe what the difference between 2 and 4 pots?

Is there a tool for pushing back calipres?

Si.

fingers still crosed, and arms and legs................

if the calipers off the car a set of "water pump" pliers or similiar (with a little cars) will work fine, alternatively if your short on tools a stout piece of wood can be used as a lever..................

the 4pot calipers are easy to spot as they have a similiar shape front and back (unlike the 2pot which only has pistons in the rear half) and "subaru" cast into the front of the caliper.............
