Question Tyre Wear ??

I was shocked to see so much wear on my front tyres when the wheels were off today. There is over 4-5 mil tread in the centre but well worn on both the inner and outer edges on both front tyres. They are Goodyear GSD3s in 18s and running 33lbs pressure with prodive settings - STI8. Is this tracking or balancing or what? Any suggestions anyone? No major judder from the steering wheel and no pulling to left or right. I did slightly kerb the front passenger side recently when forced up on a ditch but that was a light graze.

Thanks

JB

Hi,
Usually uneven tyre wear on both outside edges is indicative of low tyre pressures. Maybe sling in a few more PSI to cure and keep regular tabs on the pressures as I know alloy wheels can leak from time to time.

My tyres wore moreso on the outside edges, especially the near side front so I've got it booked in from some alignment checks next week.

That's why I cant believe 33lbs is too little pressure and I do scheck them every few weeks.

Thanks Frank

33lbs sounds about average. Alternatively the wear could be due to hard braking and fast cornering. How many miles do you get out of your tyres?

When you say your tyres are 'well worn' on both sides are you saying they are bald?

does it look sorta like this:

heavy car, quick driving, understeering = heavy outer edge tyre wear. experienced the same.
9000mls and they are finished.
