Default 18" Sized Bridgestone RE070 Alternative... Toyo R888's

I just mentioned to my garage that it was a shame Bridgestone do not supply an 18" RE070...

And was informed of these

Toyo R888's, Road Legal Track Day Tyres....available in 225/45/18

Anyone running these at the mo? because I am really tempted in 10,000 miles....

Kyle

I've just put T1R's (225/40x18) on my 01WRX and they are very good even though they're still scrubbin in....
I looked at those that you mention and the literature that Toyo sent to me via post mentioned that they're fantastic in the dry on road and track but their wet weather performance wasn't as great as the T1R's.That obviously put me off straight away!!

Good luck

Nick

Just dug my Toyo book out and here's what they say about the R888's

"Some road legal tyres have to provide warnings about their use in the wet.Whilst not designed as a wet tyre, the Proxes R888 outperforms other track day tyres here too......"

Read into that what you will but I personally, didn't put em on my car for that reason above (Which to me sounds a bit like a disclaimer!!)

Fitted the R888's to my Honda engined Elise on Thursday, followed by a trackday at Knockhill.

Needless to say it was wet, so have not had chance to evaluate in the dry. However they were pretty good in the wet, I was lapping with a Porsche GT3RS with identical times, and passed everything else on the track, including 15 Caterhams in various states of tune that were practising for todays Championship round.

Stick some Proxes T1-R's on and be done with it. They are awesome, both dry and wet.
