not too impressed with toyo's
A couple of months ago i needed some new tyres, so i went to my local tyre place with the intention of fitting Eagle F1's as i had had these before (although i didnt get full use out of them). Anyway, after being told toyos were better in the wet and cheaper than F1's (they even showed me a report by auto express) i decided on the toyos.
BTW FWIW 4 toyos cost me £370 fitted. F1's would have cost me £410 fitted.
First impression was they were better than the crappy nankangs i had on before. then whenb i went to the ring i experienced a lot of tyre wall flex and they squeeled a lot at the slightest tight corner.
i can almost always get the back end out in the wet and today as i drove up a fairly steep and damp hill i had all 4 wheels spinning with ease.
So, the question i ask;
Are these tyres over-rated and will F1's be any better or is my car just a typically powerful scoob and everyone experiences this as well.
BTW my car is an Sti5 (4 dr) with about 310 bhp.

Toyo is a very good tyre - I have had several sets fitted by in 17" and 18" on old and new Scoobs. However, the one thing I would never say about them is that they are better than the F1 in the wet! That is probably the only serious weakness. Having had Goodyears fitted this time, I wouldn't go back to any other brand.

Used to have Pirelli's - however, I've never experienced a tyre that tramlines so badly when worn. After only 8 or 9000 miles it was bad. The tyres were unusable by 12000 miles. Toyo's and S02 / S03s seem much better at resisting it. Can't comment on F1s yet as they are too new

What pressures are the guys talking about sidewall flex using? I run 33psi all round on my Proxies on 225/40/18 (02 STi) and have nothing bad to say about the performance. The wet grip is superb and the break away is progresive.
Having said that, they seem to wear very fast having just replaced the fronts in 8500 miles and will be replacing the whole set next time with GSD3s (which rock!!, are as good and last 60% longer).
