Painting front calipers.
This must have been done to absolute death by now, but I haven't got a clue where to start. What paint to buy, what prep is needed, Is red acceptable for Subaru four-pots on a DGM car, etc etc.?
All advice welcomed.

I just bought Halfords red caliper paint yesterday and am having a go this weekend. I'll do a few coats and then leave it for a day or so then paint the subaru lettering white.

Haven't got 'round to doing the Scoob ones yet (silver with either blue or black lettering for me I think) but I did the Corrado with Hammerite with no problems. Only a couple of quid for the little quart tin, better than the £25 I've seen for some "Caliper Laquers"

Nooooooooo not hammerite.
Used this on my rear brake discs.. the exposed bit in front of the braking surface (dunno the techical name for it ) Looked ok for a while but then started to fade and rust came back through I have to admit i only gave them 2 coats, maybe not enough?
Anyway, the paint i used on the calipers is made by Folia-tec. It's a 2 part paint, chuck the hardener in with the paint and give it a good stirr, just before you are ready to actually start painting. Preparation, wire brush the caliper surfaces. Use the brake cleaner (supplied with the kit ) and away you go
Also reckon red calipers will look on DGM scoob.

Also sold in.. dare i say it, Halfords

You'd be surprised at how little heat your brakes generate if you never drive on track...I used none-heatproof primer, gold to match my alloys, and lacquer, all made by Holts for normal body touch-ups. I did this in feb. last year, and it hasn't been touched since....just starting to need attention now.

I used the halfords calliper paint (red) and the results were really good. Takes ages to harden and you cant repaint for 12 weeks!!
Still looks really good 3 months on.
