Time to replace the rear discs! Help needed....
Recently purchashed some new rears, however, even though I have had the calipers off now a couple of times to free the sliders up, I haven't managed to find a way to take the actual discs off. It would appear that there is retaining screws on there, but they do not seem to have any type of grip for a screwdriver etc..
I've done a few searches now on this subject but had nothing conclusive as of yet. Can anybody point me in the right direction or is it just the shoes internally which are holding on??
Many thanks for any help.

The disc shouldn't be that hard to get off, the handbrake shoes inside the disc wil need un-adjusting, there's a hole in the rear backplate for just this job, poke a flat balde screwdriver through the hole and un-adjust them, the discs should come off, but might need a 'tap' but seeing that you've got new discs you can belt them!!

Many thanks for help, discs and pads all on now, loosened handbrake off and with a helpful whack, off they came!!!
Been going now for a good 150 miles or so, understandably this is the bedding in stage, but seem to get a constant squeal on one of them??? Even travelling at a good 30 - 40mph. I have used copper grease now on back of pads to try to prevent this squeal, but not much effect.
Should I just put up with this constant hampster wheel noise till it passes (thats assuming it does) or is there some remedy? Just gets to a point of annoyance after a few miles around the town, the car is causing enough attention as it is!!!!
Many thanks again, all help was much appreciated.

sticking rear caliper, sticky pad, or damaged steel pad locator would be the "normal" culprits in this scenario.................................

Thanks for that... I recently gave the rear calipers a service, i.e. greased the sliders and worked the piston, just prior to changing the discs, to try to prevent this. Re; the damaged pad locators, are these the plates which attach to the cabk of the pads??? As there are two on the piston side, one of which was a bit rusty, could this be the culprit???

sorry no..............meant the "sprung" clips top and bottom of the caliper that locate the pads!! these can sometimes get bent, etc. and catch slightly causing odd noises............

Great news!!!
After taking the plates off the back of the pads (the rusty ones i mentioned) and rubbing them down with some sand paper to get rid of flakes etc, back on. all gone!! Hasn't squealed for a good 100 miles now!!
Many thanks for all your help, I'm grinning once again with only exhaust noise to listen to!!
Hopefully this thread may become of some use to someone else!!
