Cracked disc, siezed caliper!
Hi all
Had a major prob yesterday with the car! Bought the car home on her maiden voyage and discovered that the pads were worn right down. So naturaly i bought some new pads and went about fitting them, anyway whilst doing so i noticed that the sliding caliper bolts were seized hard on one side, so i tapped away and sprayed loads of WD40, and it seamed to move, so i put the new pads in and went for a run. Straight away it was pulling realy hard to one side and was permenatly braking on one side, so i stoped turned round and i heard a large bang, i thought it was the caliper unsiezing so of i went only to notice that there was now a grinding noise! So i went home got the wheel off and found out that the disc had cracked in two all the way round!
So 've bought some new discs but i need some ideas and tips on how to unseize the caliper as it seams to have won over the disc, and i can't really drive with 3 brakes!
Cheers

sounds as if its quite far gone..............you sometimes get away with stripping, cleaning and re-greasing the sliders - however, from the above it may require a full strip and rebuild including seals to get it sorted!!
