Question Front Brake pads

Hi guys

I took my car for a service today and was told that the front pads need replacing sharpish. The car is a MY03 and completely standard.

The dealer wants £100+vat+fitting for standard replacements or something like £100 fitted for a set of cheaper pads. I cant remember the make but he mentioned there wer three flavours 4s, 5s and 6s. He recommend the 5s.

Is the above a reasonable cost for the subaru ones and has any one got any eperience of the others (provided you can make or head or tail of what I am talking about!)??

Also how much should a 20k service be? I paid £150 which seemed very cheap, I was expecting a £250 bill (especially as I had them swap the wheels round (29k - still on the original tyres!!)?

Also:
test drove an STi - OK but not worth the extra money IMHO.
Saw a WR1 - Looks nice (much better than the piccies) but whoever thought it was a good idea to put the WR1 logo on the front arches deserves to be shot. They look terrible.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dave

I'd recommend the Ferodo DS2500 pads and fit them your self. The pads are around £130, but a big improvement over the standard ones.

Fitting is wheels of, 2 pins out, push the pistons back, fit new pads, with copperease on the relevant surfaces, pins back in, dead easy, 45mins max.
