Question

Decisions, decisions ......

The Eagle F1s on my scooby need replacing, and I've been quoted £485 all in for F1s and £585 for the new Bridgestone S03s (size is 215/40/17) by Pemberton Tyres. Are the S03s worth the extra £100? I've been very happy with the F1s but I've read a few messages saying that (once they've bedded in!) the S03 are fantastic in the wet or dry, even when compared with the S02s that they are replacing.

Comments please everyone - roundabouts are no fun anymore!

Hi,

I have never had S0-3's yet, but I believe they are considered a more ordinary tyre than the S0-2, I didn't spend the extra myself, I went F1's and am mighty impressed, hugely better than Pzero's and all the others I have had.

I would shop around, my 215/40/17's Goodyear Eagle F1's were £302.92 for all 4 fitted with VAT and collection/return of my car to work. This was not from a national chain co, but a biggish fitter in the South West. I know of other people who have got them for well under £100. For my price, (and given I was quoted £500+ for S0-3's) I decided there was no way I could justify the difference!

Happy hunting, mail me if you want details of where my F1's were from.

I would say the roundabout grin factor has increased dramatically over the Pzeros!

Who's the 'big fish' in the Southwest then?

I used to use a company called motorsport wheels, but since about 6 months ago they stopped selling to the Public.

Only other place that can treat my 18 inch wheels with some respect seems to bePro-Tyre - have not had a tyre quote from them yet though - and they dont know how to put the wheels back on properly........

Thumbs up

I have just haggled down the price of F1's to £69 each all in (but I'm still looking for a better deal elsewhere), thats £276 a set (215/40/17).
I'll ask if they will honour that price for other scooby owners in Surrey ??? but until then I wont name the fitting centre.

Thanks for the replies everyone - looks like you've saved me quite a bit of cash!

I'm probably going to stick with the F1s, mainly due to the price as I want to uprate my brakes next month. I'll ring round the places named above tomorrow and post the quotes I get

Alex (looking forward to playing on roundabouts very soon! )

Ah, the power of Scoobynet!

A local tyre dealer has spotted my plea for help and been in touch with a decent price for F1s and SO2s

Had new Eagle F1s fitted yesterday afternoon and although they need around 1000 miles to bed in properly they already feel much better than the old ones

Paid £396 to Jem tyre in Farnworth, near Bolton, for them - give them a ring on 01204 571428 and speak to Ashley for a quote.

Must also thank Bren from Apex Performance for giving very good quotes on the F1s and SO2s (shame the local tyre places were a bit ar5ey on the phone when asked to fit tyres I wasn't buying off them and I couldn't get up to Preston to have them fitted by his suppliers). Contact him at sales@apexperformance.co.uk for a quote.
