A quick question for people that have upgraded their brakes to larger discs (AP, Bembo, etc).

Do you retain the original heatshield behind the disc or do the kits come with new ones?

Cheers,

Andy

Andy,
Take the heatshields off!! My garage left them on, when they fitted the Brembo/AP-Kit from Scoobysport. While bedding them in, there was always a real noisy sound (especially during turns). Almost sounded like a train during braking at my local train station! Take them off, that will also allow the discs to cool off faster.
Hope this is of any help. Cheers
Danny

I took mine off, but kept an eye on the tie rod boots and other rubber items.

After the Ring in June and Bedford theres been no problem. All the rubber boots located nearby are A-OK Probably due to the fact that the brakes now run cooler, and cool down quicker than the excuse for brakes the standard ones are!!

Besides my new discs are 40mm larger than standard and the guard wouldn't of done much good anyway.

M

Thanks for the info. guys! I have a confession to make - I don't actually have a large disc conversion (more's the pity ).

I have upgraded my brakes from 2pots to std subaru 4pots, but currently do not have a heat shield to fit.

I was wondering if anyone had one going spare?

Andy
