Hi folks

Hope this works - first time!!

Ian Godney and myself have resolved our stupid differences and the great results can be seen below!

As you can see I have fitted a 335mm kit to my (wifes!) RB5.

It is still being bedded in but initial feel is good so far - will report when tried properly and post some decent pics of the car.

Also fitted brake support bracket and braided hoses (not sure about their worth).

For other RB5 owners considering this I have had a problem with the offset on the standard 17" wheels as the inside of the wheel fouled the logo on the calipers - this was simply sorted by getting a 3mm wheel spacer kit from a 'Max Power' type shop £9.99.

Bleeding also took a while as there was plenty of air in the system after my amateur efforts on the caliper spacing!

Only took a novice (me!) approx 6hrs in total and was well worth the effort as I am well pleased with the high quality manufacture and look of the kit. It looks like a lot of thought and attention to detail has gone into the design and manufacture.

Thanks Ian for supplying the kit and your goodwill!

Cheers
Paul

At last!
Someone other than me who's happy with their brakes AND shouts about it,
there seem to be plenty who moan and few who praise!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy.

I've also been very happy with them and shouted about them before I'll have you know Ron.
I'm also going to shout about them today after doing more than seven track sessions at Goodwood with Easytrack. They stood up ever so well and I certainly gave them some stick I can tell you.
On two parts of the circuit you are braking from just over 130mph!!
Anyway just to say, still very impressed with the kit, and I just wish they had come along sooner!

Many thanks for the kind words guys , It's nice to hear after the work that goes in to making them , I do give a lot of attention to detail , which is probably why they take the time it does to make them , Paul , once they are bedded in they will work very well, You will not be disapointed ! Steve is finding out from the track days he is doing ,
Hoppy , We have made sure that it will cause no problems in having a small wheel spacer fitted , The only time it will cause a problem is if the spacer is too big which will leave to little thread , and that the wheel centre doesn't locate on the hub, using 3mm spacers doesn't cause any of these problems , But cheers for pointing that out , Cheers , Ian

Paul, glad you like your new brakes, but I wouldn't be happy with those wheel spacers.

Apart from being a dodgy idea anyway, you've got bu99er-all thread on those standard wheels nuts as it is. Suggest you check with Godspeed.

I use nuts with a threaded sleeve, giving twice the length of retaining thread (from ScoobySport) but you might need to drill the wheel holes out half a mill to clear the sleeve (not necessary on all wheels, but if yours have got the steel seat insert - as standard and Prodrive wheels do - they'll need widening).

Better safe than etc etc...

Richard.

The wheel does locate properly on the hub after the spacers were fitted and there is plenty of thread for the wheel nuts to go on to - I have checked this myself before going down this route.

No problems so far.

Will be using the brakes properly (mainly for fade resistance) in a couple of days as 250 miles has now passed and a couple of hard braking tests have been done (excellent performance on a one off stop).

Will put up decent photos when callipers have been touched up and everything cleaned properly!

Cheers

Ian,

I have a friend with a mitsubishi FTO who is very keen on a brake upgrade. Could you manage the same kind of thing for his car? He has 18 inch wheels with huge clearance, but standard calipers.

I would have to agree with the complimentary points made about Godspeed's kit. Very impressive braking power and superb to look at IMHO.
Hope this uploadey thingy works!
No it doesn't of course. I have the [img] things in so what am I missing?
