Seriously wanting to upgrade my 16's to 18's.The thing is that some of the wheels I like ie the Wheelmania Vortex need a 215/35 tyre to make clearance.I want to fit SO2/SO3's that come in 215/40 and therfore have been told that I will have to have the arches rolled.Anyboby had this done or can foresee any problems?

 

I've got compo's in 18x8 ET50 (215/35x18 Proxes), and the rear arches needed to be rolled.

But after that, no issues, and they look the dogs imho. It's a *very* tight fit.

I wouldn't go any lower in offsets with an 8" wide wheel.

Deep, I love the Compomotive MO 6 spoke design. Performance Parts in Luton are doing a set of 18x8 for 450 + vat which is half the RRP. SO3's dont come in a 225x35x18 so I'd go for Yokahamah AVS Sports next. Selectatyre are doing them at 140 all in. Thats £1090 for the lot.

SecretA'M', It all depends on how low your car is to start with and how stiff the suspension is. Can you explain how they actually roll the arhes?

 

You can go up to a 225x35x18 tyre no probs. Putting these on mine with 18x8" next week. Its the offset of the wheel that will make it rub. ET0 sticks out a mile, ET100 tucks right under the arches. Whatever happens it won't rub at the front, just the back. Try an ET45 for best looks. Don't get the arches rolled first 'cos you might not need it. Put a strip of masking tape on the underneath of the arches at the back and go for a spin with a full load. If it rubs you can see where on the tape and only mess with the bit that needs it.

My local bodyshop used a special tool, and heated the paint so it didn't crack.
THe thing is to do it slowly, and making sure to use some sort of protective thinga-ma-jiggy-stuff on the rolled arches.
