After the Alton Towers trip I need to replace my rear tyres and it came down to the S02's or T1S. Phoned round a few places nearby and cheapest S02s were 103.40 all in but nowhere seemed to stock the Toyos.
So, went to the Toyo web site and clicked on their dealers section, came up with a place in Bagshot. Gave em a call and said what I was looking at and got told:
"You can't even compare them, the S02's are by far the better tyre, the T1S don't even come close"
Now I find this statement a bit strange from one of their dealers. When I said a lot of Scoobynetters seemed to like em, so he said that the T1S were softer compound so may give slightly better grip but the S02's were by far better on grip/durability. I thought the S02's were softer than the T1S, from the posts on here I've read.....and it occured to me too late that the Toyo's were used in Simons sideways antics, so can't be as bad as he's saying.....
Any comments from anyone? Just trying to guage whether I should just not even consider the Toyo's and get S02's?
Also, whats the average difference in price between the two - if anyones already looked?
Cheers
Neil.

As mentioned in numerous posts SO-2's seem to the tyre of choice but are getting rare due to the line being deleted.
I haven't had T1-S's but am happy with my SO-3's at under £100 per corner all in.
There is a huge amount of tyre info on here. Have a look around.
Hope this helps.

S02's aren't manufactured anymore, so stocks will run out very soon. They're superb tyres - highly recommended - very progressive when the start to let go, and great in the wet. Try them before you die (or before they run out of them) Be prepared for them not to last very long - quite soft.
My friend - a very experienced driver - has recently fitted S03's all round having previously always driven on S02's - and he's dissapointed with them. Much less progressive than the S02's. Only upside is they seem to stand up to wear better.
Personally - once my S02's go illegal, I'm very tempted by the Toyos - hear a lot of good things, and I like the look of the tread pattern. Other candidates would be Eagle F1's, or Yokohamas.

Err..NO...the S02's are made from a much softer compound, and wears faster than the Proxes.
This is what most people say about these tires:
The S02's seem to have more grip in both dry and wet conditions, but the Proxes are easier to handle on the edge of grip.
/J
P.S. I love my Proxes, they're great on/off track in dry and wet conditions - a very "communicative" tyre - it's easy to predict on the limit.

Just gonna put my 3ps worth in the machine!
Toyo prices - I just got some fitted, balanced and purchased all inc everything for £93 each (Jet wheel and tyres in essex). I couldn't get so2s any cheaper than £110 each!
By the way, for the price, I'd go Toyo every time ! excellent dry and wet grip. especially for the money.
cheers

I have had both the S-02s and the Proxes.
I find them both excellent tyres - the best I have used. However, the Toyos just edge it for me, due to their better grip at low temperatures. This is 225x45x17 size on an Audi S3. Also, there is the 5 year insurance, and they are about £10 cheaper than the S-02s. You may find that the S-02s become increasingly more difficult to find, as I believe they are being phased out. It may be the S-03s are not their replacements - I don't think they would make my short list.
The S-02s lasted around 16,000 miles, and the Toyos have done 8000 miles so far. I think the Toyos should last about the same - I hope.
The Toyos are highly recommended.

It depends on the car - MY93-00 either 205/45/17 or 215/40/17...
Or MY01 onwards 215/45/17
Now I have 215/40/17 Goodyeat F1's which I paid £302.92 (for 4) fitted (Bathwick). I think 205/40/17's would be cheaper still but this isn't the right size for a scooby!
