Dear Marge,
I'm thinking of upgrading to 17 inch wheels
but using new SO2's makes this v.expensive.
How good are the Toyos in comparison?
I must say I'm v happy with the SO2's on my 16 inch rims.Any comments,advice,abuse ;-)welcome.Cheers,John

I used to have Toyo's on my last car, and they were good however I have now gone to Pzero's and they're great, can blag them for about £110 each.

Have no idea about S02 but I am sure they are all pretty good.

Yo.
Well I've had two paires of Toyo T1-S tyres now on my scoob and I have to say they are very very good - especially for the price. OK the side walls might not look quite as flash as the S02's, but they still look good.

Dry grip is very large indeed. As is wet. I have Avon ZZ1#s on the front which are too hard a compound and basically not sticky enough (dangerous in the wet I think especially with my WRX's standard 'firm' suspension) so they're on the front now to avoid back end overtaking me, not that it's not easy to catch like, but that's subaru's good doing - but if you're half asleep it can catch you a little unawares.

I've never owned So2s, and don't intend to. Because the toyo's are more of a bargain based on what I've heard, which is this:

dry grip negligibly marginally ever so slightly less than so2's.

wet grip better or same.

toyo cost = 80% of So2s - you can't go wrong mate.

cheers,
Spence

Sorry - an ammendment to my email, but it doesn't change much...

so2's are apparently roughly the same in the dry as T1-s tyres

and slightly better in the wet.

so toyos are same in dry and marginally worse in the wet but far cheaper :>

cheers
Spence
