Just about to get 4 new tyres to replace my current P-Zeros, and will either go for P-Zeros again, or S02 PPs, which are £70 more for the set. The tyre place says they are W rated up to 168 mph - I thought i should go for Z rated, will W be OK ?

Is 215/40 the correct size for S02s on 17"s ?

you have the correct size, and W rated tyres are more than adequate. I've never heard anyone have problems with the S02s before.

BUT...if the tyre place think either the S02 or the P-Zero are W-rated, then I would doubt how much they know they are both Z rated

but yes the 215/40 is the correct size for 17" S02s, although 205/45/17 are available and better for the P-Zeros

 

Got the S-02s, and they're Z rated after all ! Just need to scrub them in now, ready for TRAX2001 !

I beg to differ -- I had some PZeros for standard 16" MY00 wheels and they were W-rated. The ratings don't go in the right order any more -- Z used to be 'above 135' (but I think it's now 'above 150') whereas W is up to 168 and Y is up to 186. Actually, I had three Ws and a Y, but they're all more than adequate. Now got Toyos, and AFAIK they're W-rated as well.
