Question

Does anyone know if this is normal? The brakes were used when I got them, had them fitted and so last night decided to test them before the next trackday. Got them V hot, track type temps
When i was letting them cool there was fairly loud cracking noises, I guess its just the disks cooling and contracting but i'd like it confirmed as I never heard this before. The brakes still appeared to work spot on with the expected amount of bite

Yes it is normal , the bells expands at different rates from the discs , the noise is the discs moving against the bell , Ian

Hey Skippy...

So you were out terrorising the roads of Northumberland were you ?? Normally you wait for the fog and use the works Mondeo until it screams..

I'll see you on the 18th at Croft.

Thumbs up

Cheers Ian, thought this was the case but nice to have it confirmed.

Went over past Consett this time
I've got a company focus estate (service barge) now. Mine all the time so it gets no abuse what so ever

Skippy, just worth checking the discs themselves for cracks. They shouldnt have, but as you say they was used when you bought them.

Slight cracking should not be a problem, usless it is either on the inside or outside edges of the disc.
