Default squeel shims

Just fitted full set of red stuff pads to my 95 wrx , upon reading the instructions on the box it says im not to fit the "anti rattle "shims on to the new pads as it will cause over thickness and pad drag , fair enough .Then reading the instructions it says install pads and "anti squeel shims" and so on .
The problem is arnt the above the same thing and are they the metal clips that fit onto the back of the pads , i managed to get back ones on but the front pads seem to have a black sticker on the back of them which makes it virtually impossible to to close caliper with them metal backplates on ,so left them off, , what should i of done left them off or on, any help please

Hi Dav 27,

I assume your talking about Red Ceramics ?

I have the old reds on mine with no shims and have had no probs, i have now got a set of Red Ceramics to go on the front and noticed that they have like you said, a black backing.

When i fit mine i will put them on as they are with no shims.

Cheers Red.

I thought that anti squeal and anti rattle shims were two entirely different things (but I could be wrong).
