brake upgrades and insurance
#1
I bought the car with EBC greenstuff pads and grooved disks on, I never really thought about it before today but does this class as a modification as surely its no different to a back street garage sticking a set of halfords specials on (just an example)these are non standard manufacturers parts also.....aren't they?

They are classed as a modification, because they are not OEM parts.
Usually insurance companies are quite happy to accept them as a safety upgrade and don't charge you any extra. Some companies (eg RAC) do not accept any brake modifications and will cancel your policy.
My advice is call your broker tomorrow and advise them, and get them to confirm in writing.

Fitted Brembo group N discs, pagid blue racing pads, goodridge hoses, Dot 5.1 fluid, brake support bracket, also fitted Eibach springs.
No increase in premium.
Had 1 claim in the last 12 months, and quote has only gone up by £40, also have SS back box.
Still under £600 fully comp, protected.
