hyah.

Just had my car in for a service and the scooby garage said that I have cracked the disks and they both need replacing on the front! Is this usual? I have never taken the scoob on the track (but I could sometimes be called an enthusastic driver..)They are charging be about 450 to replace them. Is there any scoob companies that do brake replcemets near birmingham? (like scoobysports but closer )

Cheers

Forgive me, but I take it you've tried the 'isn't it under warranty argument'?. Some dealers will, some won't- it normally depends on how many miles you've done.

If you've only done a small mileage there is no way that standard disks should have cracked on a 2yr old road usage only car.

TSL in Nottingham isn't terribly far from Brum.

Failing that, if you fancy a trip to Bridgend, near Cardiff, the Godspeed brake setup looks interesting...

I was talking to the dealership and they just said that 'overheating' the brakes caused them to crack. I took it from him that he was saying that I broke them!

Cracked discs should be replaced under warrenty (assuming it is a 'proper' UK car ) - push the case with the dealer.

Got to be a warranty job. Problem is, you'll do the same to the new discs before long. Push for Prodrive upgraded discs (maybe offer to pay the extra if that swings the deal for you).

But if you get nowhere, rather than shell out all that money for another set of crap discs, buy some after-market kit. Godspeed with alloy bells?

Richard.

99 on a T plate, 22580 miles...

Never on a track (apart from the A38)..

Loads of small cracks in the middle on BOTH disks (in an area about 2 inches wide!)

They are covered. Go back to your dealer and insist.
